PCW stages re-run of 'VAW Experiential Museum'

Following the success of its launch in 2017, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) is staging a re-run of the Violence Against Women (VAW) Experiential Museum on December 4-7, 2018 at the Mowelfund Plaza in Cubao, Quezon City.
The VAW Experiential Museum features interactive theater performances that immerses the audience to different forms of VAW manifested in familiar situations and social institutions such as home, school, workplace, community, and even in digital media. The concept goes beyond the usual lecture, forum, film showing or screen play as the participants move from one place to another and are able to use their senses to see, hear, feel, and smell up-close, as VAW happens.
With improved and up-to-date stories on various forms of gender-based violence such as revenge pornography, prostitution, and catcalling, among others, the event puts on stage University of Sto. Tomas – Faculty of Arts and Letters Artistang Artlets, MAPUA Tekno Teatro, and Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts (YATTA) of Dumaguete, under the supervision of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA).
The experience will certainly help viewers recognize VAW as pervading problem, develop in them compassion and respect for victim-survivors and generate commitment to never remain silent, to commit or condone VAW.
The four-day run of the museum is expected to gather over a thousand viewers, with two screenings per day: 1st screening – 10:00 AM – 12:00 NN and 2nd screening – 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. It is open to public for free, and is made possible with support from the Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and their Children (IACVAWC) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
