02 September 2008, MANILA - The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the government's machinery for women's advancement, leads the 2008 International Conference on Gender, Migration and Development: Seizing Opportunities, Upholding Rights which will be held on September 25-26, 2008 at the Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

The conference seeks to bring together representatives from government, civil society organizations (CSOs), academe and private sector to explore and propose actions and partnerships to address the issues on gender, migration and development.

29 August 2008, MANILA - The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the government's machinery for the advancement of women recognizes the need for a tighter coordination and sustained collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, labor unions, women's groups and the civil society for the implementation of social protection measures that would protect women and men in the informal economy.

According to NCRFW Chairperson Myrna T. Yao, the government's role in financing social protection is not necessarily limited to direct provision of social protection services or enforcement of labor standards.

07 August 2008 - The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) is spearheading a multi-stakeholder forum on social protection to be held on August 14-15, 2008 at the Bayview Hotel in Manila. The initiative is in support of the economic development thrusts of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on poverty alleviation and sustainable development.

The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the national machinery for the advancement of women, signed a three-year partnership with the Provincial Government of Quezon and its three municipalities of Real, Infanta and Nakar (ReINa) to implement the Gender-Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation of Women (GREAT Women) Project.

The MOA signing was held last June 30 at the Quezon Convention Center during the 100th day of the term of Rafael Nantes as Provincial Governor.

15 June 2008, MANILA - The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) joins the entire nation in the celebration of Fathers' Day by recognizing the important role that men play in achieving gender equality in the Philippines.

"Fathers' Day is an event to celebrate fatherhood and male parenting. On this day we honor not only our fathers and forefathers, but all men who have supported our interests and aspirations. Therefore the male population needs to be involved if gender equality is to be achieved," NCRFW Chairperson Myrna T. Yao said.
