Guidelines in Monitoring the Functionality of VAW Desk in Every Barangay
1.0 BACKGROUND
1.1 The State realizes that equality of men and women entails the abolition of the unequal structures and practices that perpetuate discrimination and inequality. To realize this, the State shall endeavor to develop plans, policies, programs, measures and mechanisms to address discrimination and inequality in the economic, political, social, and cultural life of women and men.

WHEREAS, as Member State of the United Nations (UN), the Philippines is committed to implement UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCRs) Nos. 1325 (2000), 1820 (2008), 1888 (2009), 1889 (2009), 1960 (2010), 2106 (2013), 2122 (2013), and 2042 (2015) on women, peace and security;
Allowing Married Women to Retain and Use their Maiden Name in lieu of their Husband’s Surname in accordance to Existing Laws and Pertinent Jurisprudence

Updating of GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Profile and Database
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) reminds heads of agencies to establish and strengthen their GAD Focal Point System based on the Magna Carta of Women and PCW Circular No. 2011-01. The GFPS is an interacting and interdependent group of people in all government agencies tasked to catalyze and accelerate gender mainstreaming within the agency. The GFPS is expected to advocate, guide, coordinate, and monitor the development, implementation, review and updating of their GAD plans and GAD-related programs, activities and projects (PAPs).
