  • Barangay Protection Order (BPO)
  • Republic Act 9262
  • Violence against women
  • DILG

This publication is intended as a concise reference material for use of barangay officials in dealing with VAW cases as stipulated in RA 9262 or the "Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004." It provides answers to a list of commonly asked questions regarding the law and how to implement it.

may I have a format of the Protection Order in the barangay level please......

Barangay Protection Order

Ms. Banua,

The BPO application and order forms are included in the Barangay Protection Order: a Primer. Please refer to pages 34 & 35 of the said publication.  You may also visit the PCW library to avail of the printed copy. Thank you.

You may download the soft copy of the BPO primer using the link above. You may also avail of a complimentary printed copy from the PCW library. Thank you.

We appreciate your inquiring on the BPO. Based on its definition "A BPO refers to the Protection Order issued by the Punong Barangay (PB) or if the PB is unavailable, by kagawad ordering the offender to desist from committing or threatening physical harm to the victim. It is effective for 15 days and is not extendible," so after 15 days the BPO is no longer effective so there is a need to renew it if necessary. Thank you.

There's still no tagalog version of this primer. Maybe in the future PCW and partner agencies will be able to produce the tagalog version.
